The Stonehenge is a stone and earth monument that was made in 2400 BC. It is located in the Wiltshire county of England. It is one of the famous sites in the world which still is a mystery to its use.

Many tours are operated to this place which along with the Stonehenge also the Woodhenge and the Durringtom Walls. Being close to this awesome historical monument is worth awaking at 6 in the morning. A trip to prehistoric Wessex is incomplete without the trip to this monument and the way the story of the Stonehenge is presented is really important to make it more amazing a trip. Hence choose a proper tour and a tour guide who can give you a detailed explanation of the various monuments.

To go to Stonehenge you need to reach to the Salisbury town which in itself is a beautiful and peaceful ton.  And plan your visit in accordance with the local weather, since the Stonehenge site is a rain stricken place and the whole trip will be a white wash if a rain comes. But overall the experience is unforgettable and is better with a knowledgeable guide who does not bore you with the straight facts.

The forests are where the legendary Winnie-the-Pooh stories were based upon.  This area is completely in the hands of the nature after the trees here were cut in the 1800 for the running of the iron industry. Hence trekking here is like roaming around Europe in the middle ages. This is the largest piece of undeveloped land in the whole of Europe and the largest piece of open land of the few places left.

This place is a walker’s paradise with many picnic spots and visitors can play cricket in the open grounds available. Tourists visit this park throughout the year, since the park is beautiful though out the year even when the trees are weathering, flowering or any other season. This park has given birth to the fables of Winnie the Pooh and a few novels of Sherlock Holmes. This forest was originally a deer hunting ground but right now there are no more deer’s left here but there is good bio-diversity of animals and birds. There is always something going on here such as an activity for model aircraft flying, horse riding, cycling races and many others which can be participates in and have a good time.

If you are in London and really enjoy a good chill down your spine, then you cannot miss the famous London Dungeons. This place is recommended by many of the citizens of London as a place no to be missed. It is located near the Thames River and at a walk able distance from Southwark Cathedral.

The specialty of these dungeons is to showcase the dark part of London’s history. It is a place of horror, torture, plague and beheadings. Many disgusting wax works and automata that are sure to scare the hell out of any one are on display here. It is mostly that you get scared to death by the staff of London Dungeons that are lurking in the shadows and waiting to just pounce on some unsuspecting victim.

During my visit it was the display of the jack the Ripper incidence which shook entire Europe with its gruesome killings. The complete story is recreated here with all the alleys and streets made to look and feel like the real thing. Then there is the theme park rides based on the Traitor boat ride and In Extremis which are no for the faint hearted or nervous disposition.

This place is worth the visit but not for children and those with a weak gut, who are sure to throw up in here.

The Exmoor national park is a 700 square kilometer park that is divided into states, Devon and Somerset. The humans here live in small town and hamlets here and are dispensed.

Finding the perfect campsite is fairly simple here with a large number of good sites available to choose from. The parks roads lead into very narrow lanes in the woods that need to be followed to get that perfect campsite that you are looking for. Finding a spot near a river is an added advantage which gives a much better experience. Spending the nights is the toughest part for new campers. The Cloud farm camping site is the best location to choose from in the Exmoor national park since all other sites are over booked and have a huge number of people who spoil the fun. This campsite is also close to restaurants, horse riding, fishing, shops and showers. A lot of birds are found here like huge sea gulls that decide to join you on the beach side for company. The experience is a peaceful and settling one with the common hassles associated with camping.

Greenwich is a green suburb in the south east of London.  This is the place where the longitude 0 degrees begins and this is the place where everything else is measured.

The national Maritime Museum is the place where the world famous Royal Observatory is housed. It is thrilling to know that this is the place where the world revolves around and this is the place where the world starts and ends, right under your feet. The museum houses some interesting and fascinating artifacts from various times and is a very popular tourist destination. Many school fields trips can be seen wandering around in this museum. It also houses the famous Onion Dome, a dome associated with prominent structures like Taj Mahal and a giant Spanish onion. The dome is the home of a giant 28 inch wide glass lens that weighs about 90 kilograms. This is one of the most important archeological structures of the 18th century that helped many scientists solve the mystery of stars and other planets. Another very important feature of this place is the Time ball that is hung above the Flamsteed house. It rises and falls each day according to dedicated time intervals and is something not to be missed.

Tetbury is a small town and a civil-parish in Gloucestershire, England.  The complete town is situated on an ancient fort hill which was made as Anglo Saxon Monastery by Lord of Wessex. It was a major destination of wool trade for about 130 decades and has in store a wealth of information and architectural heritage.

Among the major attractions is its well known market house built in 1655 A.D. The medieval Cobbed chipping steps are another attraction that was used for centuries as a way to earn lively hood by hundreds of people. The Tetbury Heritage Centre situated in the court house is another feature of this place that cannot be missed. The giant Parish Church is the central attraction of Tetbury, since the skyline of Tetbury is dominated by its giant spires.  All the historical places in Tetbury are neatly marked and the story of the particular place is written on it. Hence, a guide is not required here.

Many gorgeous places to stay such as the MacDonald Bath Spa and hotel and Calcot manor are some of the many splendid hotels here with good hospitality and excellent spas.

North Devon is a local government district in the state of Devon, England. It is not surprisingly also known as the retirement capital of England, with about 70 percent of the population above the age of 60.

North Devon is home to some of the most stunning beaches in England. The number of things to do here is endless and has something for everyone. There are multiple places to stay here and you can also find homes, cottages, holiday parks for rent at reasonable prices, but on weekends one is advised to advance book rooms and resorts.

One of the most prominent beaches here is the Woolacombe beach that stretches for miles and is moderately busy with very few people even on weekends and holidays. It is one of the cleanest Beaches of the lot with numerous volunteers collecting liter and lifeguards patrolling the water’s edge.  It is a mecca for surfers with picture perfect waves and dedicated surfers to surf them. Other beaches and places that are on the must see list here are Croyde, the Big sheep, Clovelly Village, Lynmouth in Exmoor National Park and Lundy Island among many more.

If you are a Beatles fan and are travelling to Liverpool, then you cannot miss this hotel cum museum dedicated to the Beatles. This is a hotel solely dedicated to the band that was supposedly “more popular than Jesus”.

The rooms are spacious and decently dedicated with posters of Beatles here and there. The rooms are a mixture of both comfortable and modern with a touch of the Beatles magic. The much more fascinating part of this hotel is the museum called The Beatles Story, a museum dedicated to the band members. It is an enlightening trip down the memory lane into the life, culture and times of the Beatles. It puts the viewer into the shoes of the “Fab Four”. This is followed by a trip around the city in a Bus that tries to cover the daily lives of the Beatles band way before they became popular. It takes the guest on a visit to the famous locations such as Penny Lane and Strawberry fields that inspired their two songs. This trip ends finally in the cavern club where the Beatles started their career.

This is like a pilgrimage for any Beatles fan and refreshes memories to the golden era of 1960’s.

There is a lot known and said about the White Cliffs of Dover. Dover is a town as well as the main ferry port in the county of Kent in the south eastern part of England. It is across the channel from France and it is located at that part of the English Channel which is indeed the narrowest part of the channel as it lies straight across France. The town of Dover is the administrative center of the district of Dover. The Port of Dover is also the place of the Diver ferry and that exact point where the Channel tunnel is seen to seen to make landfall. This is a place of exquisite beauty which is what makes it the object of quite a lot of people’s adulation as well as the topic of poetry, songs and paintings too.

Given the fact that it is one of the closest points between England and France has been something that has made it quite an important place strategically as well as historically. This is a place that has traditionally been an important landing point for intruders and conquerors who have wanted to overrun England over the centuries. It is also an important tourist spot.
